The infrastructure that travels with every vehicle.
The NomadStick is a compact in-vehicle intelligence device that connects at registration and works from first ignition. It does not require driver setup, ongoing configuration, or continuous cloud connectivity. It is the physical layer of the Velantra platform — and it never stops recording.
Edge intelligence. Offline-first. Always on.
GPS telemetry
Continuous location and speed data captured at the edge. No cloud required for recording.
Edge processing
Speed limit enforcement, geo-alert evaluation, and violation classification all happen on the device — not in the cloud.
Bilingual TTS alerts
Text-to-speech audio alerts delivered to the driver in English or French. Driver-selectable. Takes effect on the next ignition cycle.
Offline queueing
All trip data, events, and evidence are queued locally when connectivity is unavailable. Nothing is lost. Everything uploads on reconnect.
Compliance state awareness
Registration, inspection, and licence expiry tracked on device. Compliance driving alerts fire when expired documents are detected.
Device health reporting
Last heartbeat, last known GPS position, and silent device detection surfaced to the operator dashboard. Operators know immediately when a device goes offline.
Connects at registration. No driver setup required.
Registration
The NomadStick is assigned to a vehicle at the point of registration. The device ID is linked to the vehicle record in the Velantra platform.
First ignition
From the first ignition cycle, the NomadStick begins recording. No driver configuration required. The device operates automatically.
Continuous operation
The NomadStick records every trip, evaluates geo-alerts and speed limits locally, and queues all data for upload when connectivity returns.
Works where cameras do not. Works where signal does not.
New Brunswick has over 18,000 kilometres of roads. Most of them have no fixed camera coverage. Many have intermittent or no cellular signal.
The NomadStick is designed for this reality. Speed limit lookups happen from a local cache — no signal required. Geo-alerts fire from an on-device dataset — no cloud call required. Violation classification happens at the edge — no connectivity required.
When the device reconnects, every queued trip, event, and evidence record uploads intact. The gap in connectivity is not a gap in coverage.
Local speed-limit cache
910,882 speed-limit data points pre-loaded for New Brunswick. Enforcement continues without a cloud connection.
On-device geo-alert dataset
15 active geo-alert markers including school zones, Acadian Coastal Drive, and provincial boundary points — all evaluated locally.
Offline evidence queue
Trips recorded without connectivity are stored locally and uploaded intact when the device reconnects. No evidence is lost.
Operators always know the status of every device.
Last heartbeat
The NomadStick sends regular heartbeat signals to the operator dashboard. Operators see the exact time of the last confirmed contact.
Silent device detection
If a NomadStick has not reported within the expected window, a silent device alert fires automatically on the operator dashboard.
Last known location
The last confirmed GPS position of every device is stored and accessible to operators. If a device goes silent, operators know where it last reported from.
Registration-linked. Jurisdiction-scale.
The NomadStick is designed to deploy across an entire vehicle registration population with one government decision. No per-vehicle infrastructure. No fixed camera installations. Coverage scales with registration.
Currently deploying in New Brunswick. Available for pilot evaluation across Canada.
